People work because they need money to live. What are some other reasons that people work? Discuss one or more of these reasons. Use specific examples and details to support your answer.

When being asked of the reasons they go to work, most people will have the same answer that “ I work because I need money”. However, I believe that there are some working not only for the money but also for their passions and for their society as well. These kinds of people tend to devote most of their time working and studying.

To begin with, some people may feel comfortably happy when they can do things they desire. For example, many scientists spend hours just to scratch their heads, do experiments, etc. to find the answer for many mysterious phenomenons. They may find it really interesting and exciting when they discover something new. Also, they can feel satisfied when they are successful in inventing new devices, machines, applications, etc. Some of them have worked for decades to find the solutions to some problematic situations. They have so great passions that they have never stopped working.

Also, people may work for their responsibilities. Probably, they have acknowledged deeply of the need of their society and their countries as well. As a result, they have realized that they need to devote themselves to the development of the countries and to the demand of the majority. For instance, many doctors and pharmacists have spent years studying and examining profoundly to discover new medicine, new kinds of therapy, etc. to help improve people’s health. Also, they have worked diligently to give the patients the most effective treatments in order to enhance their the ability to recover after illness. The reason for their hard-work is that they have been aware that people are always in need of good health to live and to work. Thus, they have dedicated themselves to working and to caring for people. These people really deserve our respects because they have valued the demands of majority above that of them.

All in all, besides earning money, people also work to satisfy their passion, to fulfill their dreams and to meet the need of the society. The appearance of these people have partly changed our lives significantly. We should take them as a valuable lesson for ourselves to have more meaningful lives.
