Hi Megan, I am 100% Chinese living in Beijing. I am currently preparing for the IELTS examination, that's the reason why I am looking for opportunities to practice my English. R U living in Netherland? - that's my dream country.
Speaking of hobbies, I am really into photography. I am also expecting to find some "photo-pal" here... :-) |

Hello Leonan,
My best friend now lives in Beijing too. He's also Chinese but he just moved there a short time ago. He comes from a smaller town near Zhangjiakou a few hours away from Beijing. Were you born and raised in Beijing?
I wish you all the best with your IELTS test. Once you take it please let us know how it goes!
Yes I am living in the Netherlands. I've been living here for 8 years now. So the Netherlands is your dream country, may I ask why? What makes it so interesting to you?
I have many hobbies such as reading, writing, animals, nature, camping, biking, hiking, swimming, cycling, going for walks, horseback riding, shopping, spending time with my friends, watching TV and movies, listening to music, singing, learning to play the piano, traveling, photography, genealogy, history, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, beading, weaving, playing games, jigsaw puzzles, languages, learning new things and much more. Of course I don't have time to do all of these regularly. There are some I do on a regular basis and others that I can just do once in a while. Still, I love doing them all very much.

Hi Megan,
sorry for the late response. I just came back from a business trip.
I wasn't born in Beijing. Actually I was born in the same province (Hebei province, where Zhangjiakou is located) with your friends. I moved to Beijing and settled down here in 2000. So I am "immigrated Beijingness" now.
Tulips and windmills are the things that come into my mind firstly when I heard the name of Netherlands. I have seen loads of photos of that. To me, the Netherlands is a scenic and picturesque country like New Zealand. When I was in middle school class ("world geography") I was told that most of the Netherlander live in areas below see level. I really felt surprised at that time. Netherlands is also one of the quite few countries that legalize gay marriage, right?

Hello Leonan,
It's okay, take your time. I'm happy for your response but I realize that people have other things to do as well.
Oh that is very interesting that you come from Hebei Province as well! How do you like living in Beijing?
Yes, the Netherlands is very well known for it's tulips and windmills but also for water, cheese, wooden shoes (called "clogs") and Delft Blue. I do think it is a beautiful little country. Even though there are many people living here the cities try very hard to keep little patches of green everywhere. Only the old city centers lack anything green. And yes, gay marriage is legal here.
