How would you feel if you unexpectedly found out your root was not as you thought

I was asking to myself.

You have known that your root is from so called superior race or class to others. And you are so proud of it.

Later, if you found out that your root was actually from the lesser inferior root that you had discriminated. How would you feel? Would you feel the same? And, how would you go on your life?
