I have to change this sentence #1 (permalink) Mon May 01, 2006 2:01 am   I have to change this sentence

Dear teacher,
I have to change this sentence into another one which contains the word "getting".
Please look at my effort:
1. Although he overslept, he wasn't late for work.
2. Although he overslept, he wasn't getting used to work late.
Thanks for your help.

Getting #2 (permalink) Mon May 01, 2006 7:24 am   Getting

Hi mlngvt,

You have to distibguish betweeen: Get used to do and get used to doing.

He used to work means he worked in the past but he doesn't now

He gets used to working long hours means he is becoming accustomed to working.

I think in your sentence, I would change it to:

Although he overslept, he wasn't getting to work late.

Alan
