Hi teachers,

1) "We should keep out of their quarrels." means "We should not involve in their quarrels." ?
Also, "We should keep ourselves out of their quarrels." is the same thing?

2) "The labourers called off the strike. means "The labourers cancelled the strike." ?

3) "The thief made off/away with the money." means "The thief ran away with the money./ The thief hurried away with the money." ?

Many thanks in advance.

1) Yes and Yes.
2) Yes.
3) No, it just means he took the money and went away. There is no indication of speed.

"We should keep out of their quarrels." means "We should not involve ourselves in their quarrels." oe "We should not get involved in their quarrels."
You sentence means the same.

You are correct about 2 and 3.
