Q: Some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice of family and friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. Compare the advantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference.
I have two friends having their own different perspectives of dealing with problems in life. One of them insists on referring to his surrounding people when dealing with any issue, and the other likes to make an adventure to encounter with his jobs. As far as I am concerned, both of the styles of life have distinctive advantages and disadvantages. I prefer, however, to have a life without dependence on other people. Living or discovering the life on my own makes me more confident, more flexible and more independent. Not only do I learn much about life, but also the significance of life is built up in my soul higher day by day.
The first time I participate independently in society is when I left my family to go to Vinh for a new life of a new student at Vinh University. Everything was new and unfamiliar to me. I spent a long period to get used to the new life. I faced with many problems such as money management, socialization or even new habits of life. Eventually, I soon became an energetic man in a marvelous academy life at my school. I manifested as a powerful and active student during my course. Both my professors and classmates contented my achievement because of my result and my commitment in studying. All of my accomplishment is the subsequence of my own learning about life. I invaded new environment by myself without any help of my friends or relatives. Because gasping the life alone, I had learned more about the life than many of my classmates done. Experiences gain myself developed many necessary qualifies to overpass obstacles in school life.
I have more experience than my roommate does. He attended Vinh University on as the same day as me. When I saw him at first time, he was moving in the dormitory having his father near him in case he would need any help. I was a bit envious on him because I was alone at that time. After his father left him for returning home, I was annoyed a little bit because he asked me many questions. Since considering him as an unconfident person, I contend to give him advice and assistance. Consequently, we became close friends. Sometimes, I asked him what he would do if I were not able to help him. He smiled and replied immediately that he managed to phone his father or ask any other person. I can’t stand to ask other people, however, for a help if I could manage to surpass. I always do my works by myself and rarely need outside instructions. Therefore, I have experienced many situations and been proud of my ability of standing on my feet.
Surpassing my difficulties on my own makes me understand the significance of life. I sympathize for other people’s failure and please with their success. For example, when watching a football match, I can cover each team’s attempt of winning. The tear on the cheeks of the win and the loose impresses my feeling strongly. Another example of condolence is the case I see the poor on street. Their face expresses their difficulties of starving, being homeless and less enjoying of seeing the beauty of life. I know the ultimate wretchedness they endure because I used to be in similar circumstances. I know I should treasure my precious achievements because they were my hearty endeavors. During the procession of experience my soul has been enriched with many vital images of life. Thus, I feel happier.
Everyone has his own style of life. Being independent flourishes your qualify and soul. I have no question that I should stand on my feet in my life.
