Dear Torsten! I'm watching the video and I think that it an experimental class. The light is focused on the table so that not to take the students mind off the lecture. The teacher puts a great effort to make the lessen interesting. The students are not very active ones.It is night-time and they are probably sleepy.Sometimes you can heard a loud nervous laugh.Should I see something more? I think about my lessons with Cathy B. from Ireland. There is always a very nice atmosphere . We like our teacher very much. When I mentioned her Your name she showed some interest. Maybe You know each-other? My best regards. Alicja1

Dear Alicija,

Thank you very much for your great feedback on our English class. Actually, it was recorded in the evening, not exactly at nighttime. The students might seem to appear sleepy because they had had a very long hard working day before they came to the school. As for the students not being very active, most East Germans tend to be a bit shy and you have to keep in mind that the camera was always there. I'm sure you would have been a bit inhibited to or even intimidated in a similar situation too.

I don't know Cathy B. Does she also speak some Polish or would you stick to English only in your lessons?

Dziękuję bardzo,
Torsten

Dear Torsten! It is very dear of You. Thanks for explanation.I want to assure You that I had not the slighest intention to criticise anybody. I just noticed that this topic attracted small interest and I wanted to know what it is about. I have there in Germany my close family and their friends, so I know a little German reality. My very beloved friend Cathy-she is successfully trying to learn Polish ,but we never speak Polish during classes and even in private. My knowledge of English lenguage I owe English books which I'm use to reading during the summer time in my small house in the mountains Beskidy. I'm rather not shy person even so I'm sometimes -as everyone-experienced by life. Happily, my competitive nature helps me not to give up. I greet You heartily. Alicja1

Good morning
Firstly, Torsten, thanks for posting the video of our evening class. As you mentioned above the presence of a camera really made a few of the participants be a bit nervous and even slightly shy.

This is our TGI Friday group who are normally very outspoken especially after a couple of small glasses of Sparkling wine.

If any of your readers are interested they can visit our website at:

Thanks again

Regards
Scott Graham

Dear Scott Graham! thanks for your reply. It is very nice of you. Every writing on this site is valuable because it seems , that slowly all interesting topix are running out. Even healthy quarrel would be very useful. I think-the fresh blood is necessarely needed. About me-that is long/but I think interesting/ history ,as long as is my life. Regarding the English language-I learn it for many years but it is still unsatysfactory. Main problem is, that it is hard to find a friend who would be eager to talk with you. People are blocked and afaid to speak so that not to make mistakes. And the circle closes. Without long talking you never will get fluency and always be frightened to start talking. Thank you very much because you are the first peron that cares. My regards. Alicja1

Hi Alicya

Like the tide, forums have ebbs and flows and sometimes they need you to be a little proactive as to provoke discussion.
I'm not really flesh blood here, you will see in the 'English-team trainer's thread on this forum, I have been active and worked closely with the co-founder of this forum.
If you would like to chat with some of my students, you can visit my forum at:

We don't have so many members as here but the users are pretty active and enjoy a good chat.
Let's chat soon and good luck with your continuing progress with English

Best regards
Scott

Hello Mr.Scott! Thank you very much for your efforts. I'm going to look at this ,and maybe me ,or other participant our school will be able make use of your polite suggestion."
This requires a bit courage, and you certainly noticed that I had in mind a simple friendly conversation, with a familiar person. That was just my reaction to the topic: "what can I tell about me". In our school , so far I know, Mr. Torsten also has organized sessions to talk. I noticed him on your list too. Thank you for that all, and for your nice wishes. I hope to see you on our site often in the future /of course as a representative person of co-funder/. Sorry if I said something wrong in relation to you or our school.
