Edward Hairston, 39, claims he had bought into the pool for the past eight years but didn't in June, July or August because he was off work with a back injury. His lawyers reportedly claimed he was cheated out of the winnings because he had no way of creating the payments to the syndicate, and deserved to be compensated. But shoppers on the velocityway where the winning ticket was bought weren't so sympathetic. "i feel he'll have sent his money in," Tracey Root told Fox 8. "He's probably in touch with somebody that he worked with that he'll have given the cash to stick directly top of it." Last week, Judge Eileen T. Gallagher ordered the Lottery Commissidirectly to place aside $1.8m of the jackpot, in case Mr Hairston was successful together with his lawsuit. |
