"I'm really a very sick man, "he whined. "I caught cold in the hospital from a fighter pilot and came down with a very serious case of pneumonia."

-----From Catch-22

Why caught cold? Why not caught a cold?

Thanks.

Grammatically, it should be 'caught a cold'.

Hi Beeesneees.

Is this sentence correct?

You might catch cold.

I found it at
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/caught+a+cold

There is no article after catch.

Yes, it's okay.
The reason the article should really be there in the original sentence is because 'the cold' is specified more. It is the one transmitted from the fighter pilot.
