Listen to tapes or TV shows and write down the words you hear. Listen again and again until you can write down all the words.

Dear coaches, thank you for helping us.
This is my first post.

Can I use tape scripts for that?
Should I?

IMHO:

(1) I know it sounds stupid, but the best way to learn listening (understanding what is said) is: TO LISTEN.

(2) I have known some people who came to the United States without understanding a word of English. By simply living here and being forced to use English, they learned VERY fast.

(3) I assume that you live in a non-English-speaking country. Well, you should do everything that you can to speak with English-speaking people (maybe tourists who visit your country? Get a job that involves using English?).

(4) Some famous people have claimed that they learned English simply by watching movies every day. Find movies that really interest you and enjoy them. Don't be tense. Relax. Let the words "bathe" you. After the movie, check up on one or two words that you kept hearing in the movie.

(5) Remember the old saying: Who is the best teacher in the world? Answer: TIME.

Thank you, Mr. Micawber. And, of course, it helps to have excellent teachers such as you!
