Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Boys and girls should attend separate schools. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Essay: Currently there is a fierce debate on whether boys and girls should attend separate schools. Certainly, single sex schools and co-educational schools have both advantages and disadvantages. However, in my opinion, co-educational schools are better for all students.
First of all, when boys and girls study in the same school, they have chances to help each other. For instance, boys tend to learn better in science subjects such as mathematics while girls usually excel in literature. Thus, boys and girls can assist others’ weakness and apply their strength to help each other. As a result, both they all get better in studying both mathematics and literature. Additionally, the environment in co-educational school makes students behave politely. In boy schools, students smoke more, even fight each other more regularly. Meanwhile, girls in single sex schools are typically jealous of other girls. However, all boys and girls want to have a good image to friends of the opposite sex. That is the reason why co-educational schools can reduce students’ bad behavior.
Last but not least, students in co-educational school are more sociable. For example, in a campus trip, boys can learn the ways cooking a good meal from girls while girls maybe know more about how to set up a camp. Therefore, they get fun and work together to make the trip more interesting. Furthermore, in co-educational schools, students have an opportunity to understand friends in the opposite sex and know how to treat them. In the future, that is really beneficial because they will encounter not only the same gender people but also the other gender people.
In conclusion, I do not agree with the idea male and female students attend separate schools. Since, according to the above reasons, co-education schools benefit all students: helping each other, behaving more politely and be more sociable. (303 words)
