Hi everyone,

Is it correct to say:

'Would you please turn the volume down?'
'Would you please turn down the volume?'

'He turned the volume down.'
'He turned down the volume.'

Are they interchangeable? Are they both correct?

Thanks Alexandro
Happy Hallloween.

Does that work for all phrasal verbs? Turn x off and turn off x.

Does that work for all phrasal verbs? Turn x off and turn off x. -- No. Some phrasal verbs are 'separable phrasal verbs' and others are 'inseparable phrasal verbs'. Google those 2 phrases for examples.

Okay, thank you I think I understand now. So if I don't know whether a verb is separable or not I can use it in this from: turn off x and it will be correct?

I think so. I'll bet there is an exception or two lurking about, though.
