Thinking about All Saints' Day #1 (permalink) Mon Oct 31, 2011 13:43 pm   Thinking about All Saints' Day

One day my daughter told me, that when she was a small child she had got to know that she had to die unavoidably . She was so shocked that since that time she had lost her chidlike joy of life. It was so sad and serious . It was so sorry. Alicja1

When we were kids, we learnt the fact that we all have to die someday in the future.
My son asked me this question when he was just 6 or 7 years old. It's cruel to tell little kids the truth when they are just trying to learn the beauty of the world.
How sad it is!

Hello Justin Huang! I don't know which way is a better one. My daughter surprised me because I myself never thought about the death as about my future. And I think that the most people think the same. According to me it is more natural. Alicja1

No offence, but this is quite ridiculous. It can be way worse -- like finding out as a four year old child that all people die
and all this because your two year old brother has just passed away.

Hello Alicja,
Many people are born optimistic, and I believe you are one of them. Your are very lucky.
For some others, they have to learn very hard to be optimistic. I think my son and I are all in this group.
I remember that I had to comfort him by telling him some religious theories at that time. He is now 11 yesrs old, and seems to be optimistic enough to get rid of this kind of fear.

Regards,
Justin

Hello,

I don't know what got into me when I wrote my first post here. In my defence I can only say that I did not just give some sort of morbid example there -- that four year old child was once me.

Just ignore my posts in this thread altogether -- hopefully very few people will read them.

Hello Cristina,
There is no need to regret what you have written. Actually, I thought about it deeply because I believe such terrible cases must exist somewhere in the world, and many people, including my son and me, are just lucky that we don't have to experience it in person while we were babies. I'm sorry to hear that you have such kind of experience.
Regards,
Justin
