Hi, Micha! "Some" cannot be used in interrogative sentences like this, moreover if we don't imply a concrete thing. Instead of "some' "any" is used.

By the way,are you Russian? If so,glad to hear that!

Hi Pamela,

I think you have to be cautious about saying that some cannot be used in questions like the one in the test. On the face of it the sentence in the test in isolation could invite the use of some if the implication is that the questioner wanted to have a certain quantity of water for a particular use.

I agree, Alan, sure, but I meant that if we don't imply a concrete thing(in this case certain amount of water)we use "any".Maybe I expressed myself in the previous message not in a concrete way.My fault.sorry!

Hey guys, about this thing, I've been taught that in questions like this, some is used when the speaker is expecting an affirmative answer as well, do you agree?

Thanks...

Hi Blacksnake

In situations where an affirmative answer is clearly expected, invited or desired, some is often used instead of any in a question.
A typical example of this is when something is offered: "Would you like some coffee?"
Another example would be when something specific is requested: "Can/could I have some water?"

Sorry about the late answer. Cool
