In spite of his age, he still leads an active life.

How could I know whether the narrator meant to say that his age is 'too young' or 'too old'?

If I want to make it clearer, which of the follows are correct?
(1) In spite of his young/old age, he still leads an active life.
(2) In spite of his age is young/old, he still leads an active life.
(3) In spite of the fact that his age is young/old, he still leads an active life.

Thanks!

You don't need to change it at all. Use of the word 'still' clearly indicates that he is now old.

Thank you, Beeesneees and Tarun Rawat.

Could you let me know your opinion on #2 and #3? Aren't they correct in grammar?
Thank you.

2#-In spite of his age is young/old, he still leads an active life.
In this sentence you must not use IS. Its too odd.
And I haven't got any clue about #3.Because I am also confused about the thumb rules of the English language(just like you Justin).
I am trying to skip the grammar part of the language as it is very vast(I don't suggest you to do so) so I read newspapers, listen to news in English, watch English movies with subtitles.
Thanks and regards,
Tarun.

1) You cannot use 'still' with young, though you can use it with 'old'.
2) incorrect
3) sounds clumsy. Would not be phrased that way.
