I think they are businessmen. Since they can make and buy the presidents and prime ministers. LOL.
A politician can yell a lot during the election, and soon before or after the campaign he will let himself go on to the scales of a business man. Oh dear.

They're not just controlled by businessmen, but also by other people who can blackmail them with some scandal or other. In the US, some politicians are controlled by radical groups that will harass them if they don't do what they're told.

It is true here in Burma also, bad people are exploiting the populace and Burma's rich natural resources, and making themselves filthily rich. It's a sad case to see poor and deprived Burmese under all possible bad influences and oppressions. So called the rich and powerful just ignore them. You know why ? we don't have a true national leader here in Myanmar. We have fake ones only who are sucking the essence of Burma for several decades one after another when they rule. Oh dear..
