1-This is my friend from Paris.

Can't this sentence mean two things:
a-This is my friend who is from Paris. (maybe I have never been to Paris in my life.)
b-This is someone I befriended in Paris. (maybe he is not from Paris.)

There is obviously the possibility that he is Parisian and I met him in Paris.

The usual interpretation would be that he lives in Paris. The interpretation that he does not live in Paris but you simply befriended him there is possible, but would require appropriate contextual clues.
