Hi all of you,

- Can you say: 'Excuse me for my speaking so silently, but I have a terrible cold which has infected my voice/ vocal cords.'

I'm sure you will understand my message, but is there a more natural expression in English?

Thanks
Alexandro

You cannopt really be said to speak 'silently'. You may speak quietly or you may be silent.

"Sorry I'm whispering but I have a sore throat." is adequate.

Hi Alexandro.

Possibly 'so quietly' and do you really mean 'infected'? I would say 'affected' fits here better.

Thanks Alan. So can I say: 'Excuse me for my speaking so quietly, but I have a terrible cold which has affected my voice/ vocal cords.'?
