And this aging democracy word should sound more lively in a rap or metal or punk tune, rather that Greekish cold war style lyrics. Courageous soldiers fight in the real bloody wars, Business people fight in the cold war and stash the gold bullion. All those fallen soldiers ( russian, german, american, burmese, french, japanese ) really fought for the democracy thing you talk?I don't think so.
kind regards.
As for me someone approachs me with this democracy thing I would mind my pocket.

What I understand is we kill each other out of ego and greed, and happily say we fight for ISM. Then we become egoistic greedy liars. Oh dear... Kind regards. |

Good morning Have you never meet a guy that means an Alsatian is a fascist criminal? It's an identity problem that I know very well. I'd never wear a German symbol, I've never carried a German flag, the east was simply ridiculous, the west too fascist, although I know, she's not. I've never sung a German anthem, the east for political reason and the west is simply dirty to me. I've chosen the Haticva as my personal hymn for she is so beautiful, not for political reason. My English thinking is less rational, more naive than my German. And as I come across the simple Hebrew saying, "In a community, your reputation matters. In a strange place, your clothing counts," I was out of me for a while. I could see the whole European history of the Jews over centuries until the Shoah that I could never do with reading the largest tomes to this topic. why democracy thing is so important to you people . is it something like fur coat to you. I just can't understand your kind of thinking. Under the name of democracy somebody has the right to exploit, make war, torture and kill somebody ? like in the films? if so I don't buy it. I have an IQ of 40 only.
kind regards. |
It is not whether democracy is important to us and why, but about whether democracy was brought, no forced on Germany or not. To say that Germany only had a concept of it, and had to be forced to become democratic is not quite right.
In a democracy, nobody has the right to kill anyone. Democratic countries have laws against that.
What is so important about a democracy is that decisions about a country's and a people's future is not made by only one person. We can vote and thus have a say in it, too, at least to a certain extent, so it isn't easy for one person to become too powerful and dictate what's to be done.

Hi EvilDwarf,
to me, it is perfectly fine that you prefer to sing a different hymn and avoid German symbols and all. That is your choice. I have learned over the years that one can be patriotic without being nationalistic. That is something that many people still get confused about. I've been to many places in my life and I came to realize that no matter where you go, you will always find something wrong, but also, no matter where you go, you will find something that you really like and enjoy. You see, Germany can do with improvements--just as any other country in the world--but it is also a beautiful place. To me, talking bad about one's home country is like talking about about one's mother. I may see flaws in her and every once in a while I may not like her, but she is my mother.
I've been trying to stay cool and factual without letting too much emotion in the conversation, but it is a difficult subject and it is all too easy to be misunderstood and made to look as if you're a Nazi if you dare say something good about Germany. And that is wrong as well.

If you're referring to the German women's national soccer team, then you're right. They play incredibly well!
