i've not understood some uses of the present perfect:
what kind of difference there are between:
the court has appointed me your public defender
and
i dumped my girl
i broke up with her

isnt the first one i said an action that happened in the past?
please answer me

Have you understood the explantion that Amy gave you?

Did you understand the explanation that Amy has given you?


Do you understand the uses I have made of the two tenses - Past Simple Present Perfect Simple ?
