"I am in/at the shop" -- both possible. "in" means inside the building; "at" treats the shop as a location, and may be used whether you are inside or just outside.

"buying some things/stuff" -- both possible. "stuff" in this sense is informal.

"I have to sit in the shop today" -- possible, but in this context I would probably say "stay at the shop"
"I have to sit at the shop today" -- doesn't seem very natural to me

"going to another city" -- OK
"going to other city" -- wrong

Thank you very much, Sir Dozy - The same rule applies to the following sentence?

1) He lives in another city.
