Since January 2006, I have started my professional career in Telecommunication field at <xxx company>. Having been graduated from Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of xxx, gives me strong fundamental in developing my career in this field. Especially when theory is combined with practical skills I got from company training, it enables me to analyze deeper on disturbances experienced in the live networks. Attending professional trainings provided by <xxx company> and hands-on experience on various networks elements gave me comprehensive knowledge on current network issue. The opportunity to have internship at <xxx company>, Italy on 3G Technology gave me great experience to learn new technology at that time and give training to my colleagues at <xxx company>.
As data traffic increases and telecommunication technology advances, packet switching paradigm is more likely used than circuit switch. In the future (LTE and beyond 4G), all communication will be most likely based on various applications through IP networks including conventional voice data by using IP-telephony application. In this case, the knowledge I have on computer system give huge contribution to comprehend and adapt quickly on implementation of new technologies.
My ability to work effectively in multicultural environment has been well proven by 2.5 years of experience as Telecom Consultant at <xxx company>, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Accommodating diverse ideas and bring them together as one single decision to implement is not an easy job though. I believe undergoing intense good communication, coordination, and cooperation with various other nationalities gives benefits to both personal value and team's strength. And that is one quality that I am improving a lot in current working environment which I believe it will give me an advantage in future study, work, and research.
In Saudi Arabia, there are 2 critical events i.e. Hajj Season and Ramadhan when pilgrims from all over the world gather in Makkah, Madinah, and those regions are covered by <xxx company> Radio Equipments. During that period, working condition is under pressure, network disturbances are enormous and various. Troubleshooting in such situation requires endurance and emotional stability to think clearly. Performance will be observed based on my ability for giving precise analysis to minimize network coverage and quality impact. I supposed that the same qualities are needed in performing researches due to deadlines and result-perfection.
On my work, I notice that many degradation issues which impact quality of service and subscribers' satisfaction in particular, for instance SDCCH Drop, TCH Blocking, Low CSSR, etc. When those things are happening on the network, some factors have to be considered and reviewed, such as ample radio coverage, radio interference, network element overload, etc. However, in some cases, deep investigation and analysis have to be made, not only doing network software simulation, but also sometimes drive test and site visit have to be done to see if there is any changes on the site's surroundings. Deep analysis will be made based on drive test, BER test, hardware check, and other required reports to solve these issues.
The understanding of radio propagation, transmission protocols, frequency modulation is really important in designing and optimizing cellular network. Prolonged research on cellular wireless technology is required due to increasing demand of mobile communication in our society. I have huge interest to study deeper and do research in Transmission and Wireless Communication Systems as well as Network Management especially in cellular wireless network. Doing research in cellular wireless communication system and master in wireless network management will enrich my knowledge to contribute more to telecommunication industry. Some people are sceptical towards prognosis on beyond 4G-Advanced technology due to limited available frequency bands or larger channel bandwidth. Therefore, future research on wireless technology is challenging in making improvement for example how to gain more coverage on lower resources and more efficient energy consumption or how to increase performance of wireless transmission quality closer to the quality offered by fiber optics transmission.
I find that my interest and future research perfectly matched with specialization offered by xxx scholarship. My knowledge in both computer system and wireless technology will give huge contribution in the future wireless technology since IPv6, Adhoc wireless networks, pervasive network principle, and development of Wireless World Wide Web (WWWW) will become integrated concept to our future mobile generation. Moreover my work experience dealing with live network in the biggest operators in both Philippines and Saudi Arabia also working under one of the biggest telecommunication vendor will be able to contribute in sharing and discussion related to many subjects in xxx scholarship program.
Since my biggest concern is network’s quality of service which is closely related to design and optimization field, some particular courses on simulation, design, optimization, and QoS have greatly captured my interest. In simulation area, I can learn a lot in “Computer-aided design of wireless communication systems” course; knowledge on design and optimization area can be deeply studied in “Radio frequency issues in wireless systems” and “Operations research and optimization” courses; finally, for analyzing and setting required quality on network, “Quality of service issues in telecommunication networks” subject is really important. Those particular lectures are available at xxx university where I believe it will be useful for me to undergo my 2nd year of study and completing my master thesis at. |
