Hi Alan,

After having referred to your newsletter (Everything in the Garden is lovely) which was sent to me last month, I've got few questions about the vocabulary.

Please would you enlighten me what do they mean? (Please refer the highlight one)

A look of determination of

Defiance even = ?
The origin of which is lost in the mists of time = ?
Slippery path = ?
Nobler = ?
Fizzle out = ?

Thanks for your help,

Best regards
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Let me explain these expressions:

look of determination of

Defiance even = ? Looking so determined that you could even be defying/challenging someone
The origin of which is lost in the mists of time = ? It's impossible to find the origin because it's a very long time ago
Slippery path = ? A dangerous path/route/procedure to follow
Nobler = ? More distinguished/noble
Fizzle out = ? stop working/cease to exist.

Alan
