Dear GRE takers,
I am a postgraduate student in University of Athens, Greece.
Last year, in November 2011, I was informed that I had awarded with scholaship from the Greek State Scholaships Foundation for PhD studies abroad.
The award It was something unexpected to me and additionaly the design of the competition I took part was very strict.
In a very short time (by early January 2012), I had to prodive Greek State Scholarship Foundation with an acceptance letter from the University of my first choice (I had to fill in an application form regarding preferable Universities). I did not expect the award, so I did not make arrangements earlier.
The University I had chosen was University of Tennessee.
I started communication with the department in which I would like to have addmission and in parallel I had my obligations for my postgaduate course here in Greece.
University of Tennessee, as almost every US University, asked GRE scores.
So, apart from my heavy every day program and my poor knowledge of english, I tried to prepare for the test.
I had very limited time for preparation.
I prepared for almost 5 days and I took the exam on December 29 2011.
My score was, Verb: 141 and Quant: 146.
I received a low score.
I did everything in my power in order to secure my scholarship and the prospect of studing in the University of Tennessee.
I feel very bad for my score. It is not representative of me.
I have lost a big anount of my academic confidence.
Regardless the outcome concerning my scholarship or the admission from the UT I have many options to continue for PhD in Greece.
Even if I continue in Greece, I would like to take again GRE after serious preparation. I would like to have the GRE score that represents me.
Do you find re-taking GRE, without planning to study in US, OK?
What would you do in my position; Would you be satisfied from yourself with a low GRE score?
Sorry for my poor english,
Thank you in advance. |
