1-- No one I know uses 'fancy' (V) except in the set phrase, 'Fancy that!' 2-- 'In the world' is redundant and should be omitted. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

1 - Perhaps it's out of fashion in the uUS, but as a verb it's still going strong in this part of the UK.
Sometimes it has the same meaning as 'fancy that' but with a statement instead of that, just as Untaught has used it:
Fancy coming this far from home then meeting you! It's a small world. Well, fancy seeing you here!
It's is also used more widely:
Do you fancy going to the cinema tomorrow? What do you fancy doing this weekend? I fancy she has put on weight. I fancy having pasta this evening. Do you see anything you fancy? _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Oh, I use this one, too: 'Do you see anything you fancy?' _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
