1. Please inform of the doctor the progress after two days.
2. Please inform the doctor of the progress after two days.
3. The doctor must be informed of the progress after two days.
Please check and correct the sentences.
Please explain the grammar involved if you find any mistakes.

as a general usage:

inform |inˈfôrm|
verb
1 [ reporting verb ] give (someone) facts or information; tell: [ with obj. ] : he wrote to her, informing her of the situation | [ with obj. and clause ] : they were informed that no risk was involved | [ no obj. ] : the role of television is to inform and entertain.
• [ no obj. ] give incriminating information about someone to the police or other authority: people called a confidential hotline to inform on friends, neighbors, and family members.
2 [ with obj. ] give an essential or formative principle or quality to: the relationship of the citizen to the state is informed by the democratic ideal.

#1 is incorrect
#2 and #3 are correct

In #1, the doctor is the object of the verb "inform". One cannot inform progress, one informs the doctor, so "of the doctor" is incorrect.
