Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. I saw that you had a bit of smirk when she made that comment, why was that?

2. I thought she elbowed John with that comment. ( I wanted to say that she made fun of John with that remark)

3. I have a question, and it is just for my curiosity. Why would someone with a right mind enter into a contract like this?

2. I thought she elbowed John with that comment.
ok, but I would revise it to say

2. I thought she elbowed John in the ribs with that comment.

3. I have a question, and it is just for my curiosity. Why would someone with a right mind enter into a contract like this?
