Topic: ‘Most important discoveries or creations are accidental: it is usually while seeking the answer to one question that we come across the answer to another’ Response: Significance of discoveries and creations is vital and to claim that most important of them are subject to accident is not wholly correct. Because authors of those great things exactly knew what they were into. However, sometimes it happens so that great creations or discoveries are made by chance, sometimes while looking for an answer to one question people find the answer to another one. But the common part of all of them is hard work and whole dedication. It is not easy to discover or invent something new. If it was so easy or available then almost everyone could come up with one. It requires great patience and effort. If one continuously seeks something, I think he or she will be rewarded at last. So did scientists and invertors, all who could make discovery or invention. To clarify the story about how Sr. Isaac Newton discovered his Law of Universal Gravity can be clear to answer current issue. As most people know, Isaac Newton was sitting under the apple tree and thinking. Suddenly an apple fell on his head and after a while he came up with a law. Another example is discovery made by Archimedes. Archimedes as usual was about taking a bath. When he entered the water in bathtub he noticed that some water flowed out from the bathtub. The moment after he rushed outside crying “Eureca” which means I founded. Finally remember who the creator of periodic table of chemical elements is. It was Dimitry Mendeleev who saw his work in his dreams and this helped him formulate his great creation. At first look all this three examples can be considered to as a chance what further thinking reveals the crux of the issue. There is no question that all three authors were seeking their goal. Archimedes was trying to find out whether the king’s crown is made up of pure gold or not. Isaac Newton lived in te era when principles of classical laws were being put forth. His discover which one of the fundamental laws of physics and most of his contemporaries were looking for it. But it was him who could made it. To the 19th century there were known most of the chemical elements but putting them in certain order was not accomplished yet. Great scientists of that age were attempting to find the solution but it was Dmitri Mendeleev who made it. Obviously all three were seeking the answer to their question and they founded exactly what was in their mind. Taking into account above arguments assertion that all discoveries are accidental is false. On other hand sometimes it impossible that important discoveries are the matter of chance. Sometimes when people are searching for thing A they come up with thing B. For instance planet Pluto was discovered accidentally .At that time scientists had already known Neptune. They knew that something was influencing Neptune’s behavior. They thought it was its satellite but they found another planet Pluto. Therefore this kind of events happens occasionally. To sum up, most important discoveries or creations cannot be left to chance. They are made purposely. However from time to time they are made accidentally. But no matter how it is done discoveries and creations require significant effort and dedication. |
