The issue at hand is whether professors appearing on TV is good or not. According to the test passage, it is a good thing to everybody: the professor's reputation gets better, the ideas are spread to the public and universities receive more donations and applications to the students. However, the lecture disputes these points of the reading. The lecturer asserts that there are several disadvantages to the professor to participate in television programs. She claims that as the professors choose participate of entertainment programs instead of academic programs, such conferences; they might lose their researches grants. In addition, these programs take a lot of time of them, because they have to travel, to makeup, etc. The lecture challenges the argument that professors appearing on TV is beneficial to the public. The lecturer says that just a summary of the professor's ideas are presented. It is not much different of the reporters relate. In other words, on TV, the issues are not presented as in the academic environment. To sum up, the lecture and reading have different points of view about the subject discussed in this essay. According to the lecturer, professors waste a lot of time when participate in the programs entertainment and the public doesn't gain more knowledge than already passed by reporters.
