Hi Saravan,
Please take a look at these examples:
He wasn't at home last night. I wasn't happy with the results. The product wasn't available yesterday.
"wasn't" is followed by a noun or an adjective.
She didn't call the client yesterday. He didn't finish the report. We didn't meet with the customer.
"didn't" is followed by a verb.
Let me know what you think. Regards, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

| I think "listen" need the attention, but you can heard things you do not want to heard. Am I correct? |

Hi Kory
Yes, you often hear things even when you do not want to hear them.
When you listen to someone or something you are paying attention to something specific. . |

Hi Mister Micawber,
I understand your difference between hear and listen. However, when you explain that the unconscious sensation words do not usually appear in progressive form, I have seen " I am feeling great." " I am seeing things." "It is smelling." So, are all these correct sentences? Thank you. Tiffany |

. Yes, you have. Still, they do not usually appear in progressive aspect. Those sentences can be used in certain contexts, but are usually incorrect when used by learners of the language. (Your last one, however is not a sensation--it is an activity of the smelly item. 'I am smelling' is the form that is unlikely.) . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Hi Mister Micawber,
Thank you for your speedy response. I know it's not easy to master English and it's not something you can learn it over night. I guess I just have to read more and ask questions when I encounter something I don't understand. I deeply appreciate your valuable time and your dedication to help people like me who really serious about mastering and fine tune my English but have limited time in the day to take a course in the community college. Due to long hours of work, I am very exhaused to attend an English class. I had tried it before but the class didn't help me much, perhaps I didn't know how to ask questions, to express my questions and also too embarrassed to ask questions in class. I guess I have more vocabularies now and gain more understanding of the language than before. Therefore, it helps me to express my questions easier. I hope someday I can help others like the way you have been helping us (non-English speakers) to improve their English skills. THANK YOU! I will talk to you later in ESL grammar form.

I'm terribly sorry but I ......... what you said just now and I wonder if you could repeat it.
(a) wasn't listen to (b) wasn't hearing (c) didn't hear (d) didn't hearing
-_-!!!! I am so sorry but I am so confusing why "said" doesn't change to "say" because it follow didn't hear in this question... or this is from different sentences! Thank you and have a good day |
