4) I gave that tailor two suits to sew. Correct? #1 (permalink) Sun Jan 29, 2012 17:44 pm   4) I gave that tailor two suits to sew. Correct?

Hi,

1) I had a small accident on the bypass road. This road was on the hill. Th I was driving a bike for the first time. I lost the control of race and fell down from the bike. My right knee bruised. I wrapped a bandage around my knee. I had to get the torn part of my clothes sewn so that my dad would not find out. Please find mistakes and the use of "would" is correct, if so, can I also replace it with "might"?

2) He didn't greet me when he passed by me. He didn't greet me when he went past by me. Correct?

3) How many minutes is left? Correct? "are" can't be used?

4) I gave that tailor two suits to sew. Correct?

Many thanks in advance.

I can't work out what you mean by 'the control of race'.

2. yes

3. No, that should be 'are' to match 'how many' (plural).

4. yes

Thank you very much, Madam BN.

I lost the control of speed. Correct?

I need to use "ride" not "drive for bike". Right?

My right knee bruised. I bruised my right knee. Is also correct?

Can I replace "would" with "might"?

I think I read a post wrongly where it was mentioned that with quantity, time etc...we use singular?

The best thing you can say is
'I lost control'
This means you lost control of the bike.

Yes, we ride bikes, regardless of whether they are pedal bikes or motor bikes.

'I bruised my right knee' is the best option.

In that sentence 'might' would be incorrect.

We use uncountable time as a singular noun, but units of time (such as minutes, hours or days) are countable.
