Have anyone of you ever heard about the term 'Hotdesking'? #1 (permalink) Mon Jan 30, 2012 13:25 pm   Have anyone of you ever heard about the term 'Hotdesking'?

Hello to everyone of you

Have anyone of you ever heard about the term 'Hotdesking'?

Please be so kind and explain it to me.

I read it on a British website for renting (meeting/conference) rooms.

Thanks in advance

Hotdesking is when you don't have a permanent desk in your office.

So for example, each morning when you come to work, you just find a desk that is free and you work there, rather than having your own desk that you sit at every day.

Hello IELTSbuddy

Thank you for your reply.
I think I read it in combination with 40h/month. Does it means I can use the desk just for 40 h/month and not longer? Who rents a desk out per hour inside a rent-able meeting room?

Regards

Mario

You'd have to make enquiries regarding the exact terms with that particular organisation.

In the city I live, you can 'rent' a desk in an office for monthly terms. In effect it's just a desk in a shared room with others doing the same, but it gives you a 'business' address for a cheap rate, and its easy to end the contract if needs be.

So it could refer to something like that.
