Dear all,

Generally am using the word "passed out" for mentioned the finishing or getting out of something

Example :- I am 2011 M.Sc., passed out from Berlian University.

As i gone through the phrasal usage of "pass out", it shows that the meaning is "faint"

Example :- "She passed out when she heard the bad news"

can anyone explain which one to use ?

Thanks
Parthii

'passed out' means 'lost consciousness -- either in a faint, collapse or black-out because of illness, injury or accident.

You appear to have been incorrectly using a term which you have derived from 'passing out parade'.
A passing out parade is a specific ceremony which takes place when armed forces or police recruits finish their basic training. It should not be used to describe graduation from a university or general completion of something.
It is also never 'passed out'.
Joe took part in his passing out parade yesterday
NOT
Joe passed out yesterday (Joe lost consciousness)

The term you require to indicate a successful completion of a university course is: graduated from.
