Hello brucewilliss!
Really an interesting list! Do you have an other one in which you catalogue points of things you like about everyone? Or do you have 10 things now you hate about everyone?
Regards

Hi Michael
I think "Bruce" probably does have a Number 10 for his list of things he hates now: Forum software that automatically inserts "use another word" when your vocabulary gets "too colorful".

Hi Amy!
Let?s make this forum more attractive for Bruce giving him a word which the forum don?t change:
"Slubberdegullian Druggel"!!!!!

Exactly, Michael! :D
For variety, Bruce could also use the word " supercalifragilisticexpialidocious " !

  This must be Buisiness English. I have no clue what it means! But I think I?ll suggest it at the next spelling contest as the word of the year!

Hi Michael
No, it's not Business English, it's actually an invented word and is the name of a song from the old musical (movie), Mary Poppins. The word became so well known that it can now be found in dictionaries. It's an adjective and means "fantastically good".
Hmmmm... maybe it's not such a good choice of words for Bruce's "hate list" after all... much too positive.

And how's the following word for a spelling contest, Michael?
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. It's the name of a small town in Wales. And... it's not the longest town name in the world. Thailand has a town whose name has 163 letters:
Krungthepmahanakornamornratanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilokphopnop- paratrajathaniburiromudomrajaniwesmahasatharnamornphimarnavatarnsathit- sakkattiyavisanukamprasit.
Sorry, Amy, though Mary Poppins' song name is a good one for games.*
Though I'm not clairvoyant (at least not consciously), I can see brucewiliss' next item on his list: People who desperately try to outsmart other people :) ...
*Edit: I didn't know it could be found in dictionaries, Amy :o ! How interesting! |

Hi Amy! Hi Conchita!
Amy, sorry, concerning musicals (movies) I am afraid of having to admit that I?m a real barbarian. About brucewilliss I feel used to mention that there will be hope because he didn?t dispute having a like list until now. 8) And as you can see in my quoting you it?s really a good spelling test for pupil from a downer class of a genies shool.
Conchita, the two town names seemed to be more usable for pupil from upper classes of the genies school. What I liked to see were the advise boards to these two towns at the street, especially to the town in Thailand. Perhaps brucewilliss is a manufactorer of advise boards. So I knew a point for his like list.
Liked to know what Bruce said about the reaction of his topic.

I don't know about road signs, but you can have a look at their railway station sign here:
www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch.com/
By the way, the name translates as "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".
Some say SMILES is the longest word because there is a MILE between the first and last letters! |

Hi Conchita!
Thanks for your very educational advice to an interesting web site. Unfortunately I don?t have a sound card in my computer. Only to hear the name of the Welsh town seems to require the procurement of one.
About their railway station sign: it suggests to be similar to the Dome of Cologne. Noone will ever be able to make a photography of them alone. That is really great, isn?it? :D
By the way: which is deeper cup or plate? :?

Hmm... is it a riddle? Normally, I would say a cup, since a plate is a flat dish, but it's probably the other way round, if it's a puzzle. Well, I'm curious now! :) |

Hi Conchita!
You?re right. it?s a riddle straight translated into English! So it?s a bit irritateing!
Perhaps this is a bit easier:
What is deeper: CUP ODER PLATE?
Can you guess it now?

Hmmmm.... Michael, I'm mystified, too.... Since Conchita said "cup", I'll guess "plate".;) But I have no idea why that would be true. :?
Maybe we should try some riddles straight from English. :D

Try as I might, I just can't solve the riddle. :? So I give up!
It'd better be a good one, Michael :P ! |
