Topic. Some students like to work in groups with other students when doing assignments and projects. Other students prefer to work independently. What are the advantages of each, and which do you prefer?

Doing assignments may be a very common activity to every student during the academic year. To handle the assignments, some students choose to corporate with others and work in groups, while many other students choose to work independently. Surely, each way of doing assignments has its own advantages, and choosing a suitable one is very essential for students.

Independently working on the assignment has a lot of advantages in regard to working skill development and work concentration. Obviously, students who choose to handle their assignments this way have to do everything by themselves, including doing the research, organizing tasks, and making presentation. They can surely gain a lot of skills in various fields. For example, they improve their skills like researching, organizing and presenting that enable them to handle any tasks in the future. Similarly, working alone forces the students to think and innovate several times as much as others who work in groups, which improves students’ critical thinking. Importantly, these students don’t have to face the argument about which idea should be used that those who work in groups often have. Therefore, these students can greatly focus on their ideas.

On the other hand, working in groups of students has relatively large amount of advantages in regard to skill learning, task division, and social interaction. Working with group consequently helps students improve their teamwork skill, in addition to critical thinking and confidence that are gained during discussions. Groups surely need to divide the task into smaller parts, and as each student handle part they find suitable most, the task can be done really effectively. Therefore, students have opportunity to enhance their best skill, and strength. Moreover, working with groups could be joyful. Having contact with others, and sometimes arguments could be the best way for students to make friends, and have fun.

Bearing all advantages of both two types in mind, I would like to choose the latter way. In my opinion, we can never live alone, and should never work alone as all work in real life requires corporation and helps from other people. Therefore, I would like to improve my teamwork skill. Moreover, the latter could ensure me better results. I can not only have great completed assignment but also have great new friends.
