"Long for" and "short in" how to use them? #1 (permalink) Mon Feb 06, 2012 17:43 pm   "Long for" and "short in" how to use them?

I heard these two phrases (long for) and (short in)

Here is the sentences:
Long for more.
Short in intimacy.

I understood the meaning but I need more examples?
Should I say I'm long for more or I long for? and the same question for (short in).
Can I use them in general or there are certain cases to use them?

I long for more... (whatever it is you long for more of).

'short in intimacy' is unusual. Where did you see it?
'Our marriage is short of intimacy' would be more usual.

I heard it in a dear Abby letter. A wife complained of her relationship with her husband. He is no longer shows her good feelings. She ended the letter with this sentence "short in intimacy".

Can we use "short in" with another words?
Would you give me one example at least for each of them, please?

Many Thanks,
Laila

She obviously meant that the relationship lacked intimacy, but I would not use 'in' there.
