This is a stunning statistic: 5 billion people don't have access to the Internet. Most information transfers happen between North America and Europe. What is going on in the rest of the world?

5 billion people don't have access the Internet #2 (permalink) Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:57 am   5 billion people don't have access the Internet

I think we should worry about getting those people food and medical care before we get them Internet access.

He also forgot one very common reason why some people don't have access to the Internet: They don't like it and don't want it. There are people who know how to use computers and can use the Internet, but they just hate it and avoid it.

Then you have the people who deliberately limit their access to the Internet because they don't want to upgrade their computer or pay for a fast connection. I know woman who's got plenty of money and plenty of computer knowledge, but she doesn't want to buy a fast computer or pay for anything better than a 56K dial-up connection.

There are also some computer experts who think that children shouldn't have access to computers before high school.
