| Most patients think they are uncomfortable with male nurses. Is it odd to see male in the nursing profession? To me, as long as the nurse is doing a great job in providing care; gender does not matter. Although, I would be more comfortable if my nurse is female during some exam or assessment. When it comes to lifting and positioning the patient, male nurses are stronger than female nurses. Most of them are stronger and can carry heavy weight without hurting themselves. What about trust issue? Leaving a new-born child with a male nurse? What about religion? |

| When I am in a hospital, I just want a good nurse. Period! They say that women are more caring. But that is not necessarily true. Here in the United States, there are many female nurses who are lazy and -- even worse -- incompetent! I have met some excellent male nurses. It really depends on the person. Of course, I wish all nurses -- both male and female -- could live up to the standards set by Miss Florence Nightingale. But that is just an impossible dream. |
