correct sentence #1 (permalink) Tue Feb 07, 2012 20:38 pm   correct sentence

Hello!
The sentence: 'The new word was already explained.' is correct?
or maybe: "The new word has already been explained.'
Thank you a lot for your support!

1. "The new word is already explained."
2. "The new word has already been explained."

3. "The new word was already explained."
4. "The new word had already been explained."

#1 and #2 can both be used when talking about the present situation. In most cases I think I would prefer #2.

#3 and #4 can both be used when talking about a past situation. In most cases I think I would prefer #4.
