Dear Beeesneees,

Could you rewrite this sentence which makes me really stupid? I've tried many times, but I couldn't. Thank you.

Roll out the pastry into a circle on a lightly floured surface and use to line a tart tin, as directed in the recipe.

use to line a tart tin this clause makes me crazy. The rest is OK. So it doesn't make sense when I translate the sentence into Burmese.

kind regards.

Add the noun:
'... and use the pastry to line a tart tin.'

This means lay out the pastry in the baking tin, so that the tin is covered with what looks like a blanket of pastry.

'lining the tin' is a correct baking term.

Sahid, please remember that time differences and other commitments mean that a quick response is not always possible. Those messages were posted in the middle of the night for me.

Dear Beez,

Thank you very much indeed. Judging from the illustration from the book I can roughly understand the meaning. But it took me ages to find the other meanings of Line (v) in the Oxford and to grasp it.

Now thanks to your lucid guide I have more confidence in my translation. Unless I could make a lot of blunders in it.
That's why I love British English.

This sentence is from a very thick French cookery book in English which I'm translating now. Oh dear..

And sorry to make your morning busy.

kind regards.
