Without further context, I would understand that he didn't want to be thrown out of another (second) place or clinic.
If you have attempted something twice, and had the same result both times, then you have "gone two for two". (Two tries, two identical results)
If a baseball player goes to bat 3 times in a baseball game and gets a hit each time, then he has "gone 3 for 3". (3 tries, 3 hits)
