Are these sentences natural? Feb 9 #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 09, 2012 15:48 pm   Are these sentences natural? Feb 9

Hi,

Are the following sentences natural to a native ear?

1. In that case, should I hire an agent whose main market is Sunnyvale or that doesn’t matter?
2. I was at a party where there was a luck draw.

3. What should they be doing actually is turning / to turn the ladder horizontally.

Thanks,
MG.

1. It should be "... or doesn’t that matter?", and I would also consider putting a comma after "Sunnyvale".

2. I have personally never heard of the term "luck draw", and to me it sounds odd. However, Google hits suggest it may be a valid term, perhaps in AmE?

3. "What they should be doing actually is turning to the ladder horizontally."

"What they should do actually is turn to the ladder horizontally."

In isolation, I find it quite hard to visualise precisely what this is describing, but it may be clearer in context.
