Dear friends,
please help me getting the meaning of 'dead habit'

Which one is correct?

1- petty quarrels
2- meaningless quarrels
3- old habits

In my view 3rd alternative is correct. What's your opinion? I'M WAITING.

Actually I have taken this word [dead habit]from the famous poetry[Where the mind is without fear] written by Ravindra Nath Tagore.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high,
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into deary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom,my father,
LET my country awake.

Of those three options, I don't see how the answer can be anything other than #3. I can't see any reason to think that "habit" would mean "quarrel". It seems an odd question though.

(By the way, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but just so you know, "I'M WAITING" sounds rude and impatient. Generally speaking, writing in capital letters makes it seem as if you are shouting.)
