Hello friends,
I would like to know the difference between the following sentences,
Did this happened yesterday ?
or
Did this happen yesterday ?
Which one is right and what is the grammatical structure or rule behind the sentences. If anyone could explain the grammar part, it would be really helpful,
Thanks, Dinesh |
Only the second one is correct: "Did this happen yesterday?"
When using "did" like this in a question or statement, we use did with the base form of the verb for any subject: http://www.englishclub.com/grammar/verb-tenses_past_s.htm |

Dineshkumar:
This is one of the biggest mistakes made by learners. But I have good news: it is EASY to NEVER make that mistake again for the rest of your life!
Simply memorize this: After "do," "does," and "did," ALWAYS (100% always) use the base form of the verb. That is, the form of the verb that you look for in a list of words in the dictionary.
Therefore:
She does not WORK. Does she WORK? She did not WORK. Did she WORK?
Isn't that easy?! |
