How to paraphrase this sentence? Could you explain me the usage of "even" ?
Despite being short of money he decided to buy the shirt.
He decided to buy the shirt even.......

If your last line is the beginning of the new sentence you wish to create, then I suggest:

He decided to buy the shirt even though he was short of money.

'even though' is similar to 'although'.
