I read this sentence in a novel: "Security guards were all about a hundred and ten." Is it talking about the weights of the guards? If so, they are about 46 kg each. How come? Help please. (By the way, they are planning a robbery.) Thanks in advance.

Hi,

That's a difficult one. I would suggest: In all there were about 110 security guards. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

This is an electronics store. So, I believe your guess can't be true. It seems irrelevant, but the next sentence is: Had his crew together, all they needed now was a driver.

I read it as meaning that they were all about a hundred and ten years old -- an exaggeration, of course.

Yes, this makes sense to me now. Thank you both, Alan and Dozy.
