Hello

What does

The side away from camera mean?

The man is paddling through the river and he spots something in the water and camera instructions say 'side away from camera'

Many thanks[/code]

Can you give us more context for this? Is this a comic strip? The only thing I can think of is that the man thinks he is on a river but is really on a movie set and he is looking at a prop.

It is a kids' tv show. They are on a movie set. The presenter is on a pencil box as a boat and paddling with a pencil through a river. He pretends to see a crocodile in the water. In the camera instructions it says the side away from camera.

What do you mean by "camera instructions"? Is someone reading "the side away from camera" in some written instructions or is the director saying "the side away from camera"? I would think "the side away from camera" would mean the back side of the prop or set that the camera cannot see.

Now it makes sense. The camera can't see it. Thank you very much. By the way Luschen what does oov mean. As far as I understand it is out of vision. Does it mean out of seeing range?

It looks like you are correct . It means that it will not be seen by the camera: "Raise that boom mike so it's oov!"

Here is an interesting website that is helpful with abbreviations: http://www.acronymfinder.com/OOV.html
