Playing cricket is a favourite hobby with the boys or of the boys. #1 (permalink) Mon Feb 13, 2012 13:36 pm   Playing cricket is a favourite hobby with the boys or of the boys.

Hi teachers,

1) I go to the lesson daily if I don't want to go for two days. How to say? I want leave for two days. Is it correct?

2) Playing cricket is a favourite hobby with the boys or of the boys. Which one is correct?

3) Supposing I am waiting for somebody and he is late but suddenly he appears. Can I say "If you hadn't come within more 5 minutes, I would have gone."?

Many thanks in advance.

1) Yes, or I'd like two days' leave.

2) Both can be considered correct:

3) Almost. "If you hadn't come within 5 more minutes, I would have gone."

Yes,
Less abruptly:
I would like to book leave for today.

(Though that is very short notice. Most employers would like leave booked well in advance.)

And I would like to take leave on Monday. Correct? Can I use "have" in place of "take"?

'Take' sounds much more fluent and correct than 'have' there.
