Could 'so' be followed by both an adjective and and adverb?

e.g. He treats me so good.
He treats me so well.

Does anything change?

Hi,

Here you need the adverb 'well' as this describes the verb 'treats'.

"so" can be followed by an adjective in other situations ("I feel so happy", "He is so mean", etc.). The issue here is not the presence of "so", but the fact that the word has to modify the verb "treats", as Alan says.

You may hear some native speakers using "good" as an adverb, as in "He treats me (so) good", but it is not considered good English.
