Is the verb "help" only followed by a verb in the base form? #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 16, 2012 15:24 pm   Is the verb "help" only followed by a verb in the base form?

Dear all,

As far as I know, the verb "help" is followed by the verb in base form.

Examples:

1) Drinking coffee helps me stay awake.

2) I couldn't help her change her mind.

3) It helps me know the needs of my patients.

Does everybody agree?

Thanks a million in advance.

Regards,

Ozzy

"Help" also can be followed by To-infinitive verb
both bare and to infinitive verb is possible

I helps me know/to know the needs of my patients. (both correct)
